Lost & Found: Mailboxes of Bainbridge Island. Now showing: 8 of my acrylic mailbox paintings through October 4, 2024
I started wondering if the charming country mailboxes on my Bainbridge Island walks during the pandemic were becoming “endangered” when DeJoy started dismantling the USPS threatening an end of an era for that symbol and receptacle of our connections to the outside world. Will it be an end of love letters….? Of checks in the mail….? Of surprises that can get a heart to race? I took lots of pictures for painting references. The houses are mostly hidden here, obscured by foliage so the mailboxes are the main indication that dwellings and people are nearby tucked in along mysterious driveways enjoying the same quiet of nature that brought us to the island. Come take an island walk with me! The mailboxes aren’t lost, but some very overgrown.

“Confluence” show. Women Painters of WA in Ellensburg!
Gallery One Visual Art Center
408 N Pearl Street, Ellensburg, WA, 509-925-2670 www.gallery-one.org
July 28 – August 31, 2024
Artists’ Reception – Friday August 2, 4pm – 7pm. I’ll be there!

Hera’s Paintbrush was inspired by the summer lilies blooming outside the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, reminding me of a fresh paintbrush making the world rosy and inspiring a lift of spirits in these dark times. You can see my painting in Eastern Washington this summer! I’m thrilled to have this new work juried into the show along with 38 artists giving me an excuse to check out the landscapes and art scene east of the Cascades. Susan Steinhaus Kimmel is the juror. Come join me at the reception on August 2 from 4-7:00 when Ellensburg has their Art Walk. Opportunities to participate in juried shows statewide is one of the benefits of being part of the Women Painters of Washington. My painting “Dervish” won the 1st place award last year in the Bellingham show! My 1st first!
Enjoy the art and warm colors of summer wherever you are!
