Title: Mountain Gold
This painting of Aspen leaves in autumn zooms in on a few golden leaves, but also shows a neutral background built up with washes of complimentary colors. I wrote a blog post about the painting process of this image at http://sandyhaight.com/news/yellowstone-aspens-in-autumn-exploring-the-background-tones/. The sunlight and shadows on these leaves almost flicker as they would in a soft breeze.
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them.
This watercolor is painted on 140# Arches Cold Press paper. It is framed with a white wooden frame, glass and archival white mat and foam core backing. A Certificate of Authenticity comes with the watercolor signed by Sandy Haight. It is ready to hang for your pleasure. (The copyright notice is is to protect the listing file only).
