Title: Smiling Bull Trout
I studied bull trout while designing an auto license plate sponsored by a Montana wilderness group, Friends of the Wild Swan who wanted a sumi style image, and I came up with a wide assortment of fish paintings for them to choose from. The bull trout looks very similar to salmon. This painting has the sense that the trout is smiling from the gesture of the brush stroke under its bull nose. It's a cheeky fish. The painting has a blend of wet and dry brush strokes and is swimming horizontally or it could be posed as if mounted on the wall like a trophy of a great catch, happily smiling back at you.
This is an original sumi painting, not a print. It is painted on rice paper with sumi ink and is mounted on masa to flatten it and bring out the richness of the tones, signed with my name and my personal red chop. It's delivered on foam core with a clear bag to protect it while it awaits your choice of frame to add grace and beauty to any room in your home. Artwork comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. (The copyright notice is not part of the product, just protecting use of the image file).

My pictures appear on book jackets, ads, posters, logos and packaging all over the country and Canada.
