California Calla – Watercolor on 300# cold press. Image size: 22″ x 30″. Frame size: 31″ x 39″
This heart shaped calla lily caught my eye in my daughter’s San Francisco garden where they grow profusely and seductively. The wavering leaves are as compelling as the bold white blooms, especially in this view, which called out to me to be painted. I haven’t had much luck growing these lilies in my NW garden so this painting suffices to bring me joy and wonder.
I’m honored that this large watercolor painting was accepted into the new 2023 CVG Show opening January 14 at the Collective Visions Gallery, 331 Pacific Ave. Bremerton, WA . Phone: 360-377-8327. This show of diverse art styles and mediums, displaying 2D, 3D and digital artists from Washington State, was juried by the inimitable Carla O’Connor. She has dominated the water media art world since I’ve been involved in watercolor, winning awards and the highest signature status in many watercolor societies.
