I offer an 8 week evening class in watercolor at Bellevue College, across the lake from Seattle. It’s geared toward the beginning watercolor painter who wants to learn to create a finished painting or use watercolor techniques for illustration. It’s been a great source of inspiration and lots of fun. Check here for the next opportunity to paint with me or email me at sandy@sandyhaight.com for private instruction. My blog has entries showing amazing student work and some teaching content. Search the categories for teaching, process or fine art news.
Watercolor for Illustration
Explore the basic techniques needed to plan and create watercolor paintings for the illustration market by experimenting with washes, gradients, values, texture and glazes. Learn to make color and pigment decisions, how to take a painting concept from sketch, to color comp, to a finished painting ready for reproduction. Course ends with a discussion of Photoshop touchup techniques and internet delivery. Course may be used as a Graphic Design Certificate Unit 3 Portfolio elective.
